Fire Station 32
Challenged with a limited site and allowable building height, the design of Station No. 32 for Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District had to meet current and future needs of a growing district. This station replaced the district’s station on the mainland which had become outdated and had also sustained damage from recent hurricanes.

More than just living quarters for suppression personnel, the district required a facility that would serve as an operations center for emergency situations such as hurricanes. The 12,290 square foot station is divided into three levels. The ground floor includes three apparatus bays, bunker gear storage and the laundry/decontamination room. Living quarters are located on the second floor. As part of the living quarters, individual bunk rooms for six personnel are provided as well as an exercise room and a radio room.

Designed as an emergency operations center for the district, the third floor has offices, an open work station area and a room that can also be used for training. The color scheme not only reflects the spirit of the community it also reinforces the presence of the district. Located on the main road to the beach this station has become a gateway of the community.
