Paradise Valley Fire Station 2
Paradise Valley Fire Station No. 2 was designed to integrate
both with the natural desert environment and the neighboring
Town of Paradise Valley Municipal Complex. The weathering
standing seam metal shed roof forms in combination with ground
face earth color concrete masonry units featuring rich
terra-cotta exposed aggregates metaphorically connect the
building to the natural backdrop of Camelback Mountain. The
project incorporates numerous passive and active sustainable
'green' building design strategies. The use of ground face
concrete masonry units, smooth face concrete masonry, hollow
clay tile units, in conjunction with galvanized and
weathering/pre-finished metal was essential to the overall
design strategy employed to accomplish this goal. From the
outset of the project the Architect and Town of Paradise Valley
viewed this project as an opportunity to enhance and support the
neighboring community and provide an Emergency Response facility
that would instill a sense of permanence and pride in the public
and users.
